Shoulder rehabilitation. Part I.

20.03.25 – 21.03.25 for the 3rd time in Latvia a series of shoulder rehabilitation seminars was launched, led by experienced physiotherapy professor (PT, Ph.D.) Ann Cools (Ghent University, Belgium), founder of The European Shoulder / Elbow Association for Physiotherapists (EUSSER) 

Day 1:

  • Exploring theoretical reasoning – the latest in scientific evidence
  • Clinical reasoning in patient assessment, symptom provocation and reduction tests, traditional orthopedic tests, including critical discussion of interpretation
  • Biceps tendon long head injuries and SLAP lesions. Glenohumeral joint., ROM deficit in athletes, role of the scapula in shoulder pain, biomechanical and clinical perspectives
  • Conservative treatment of rotator cuff tendinopathies

Day 2:

  • Specific exercises for shoulder instability, local neuromuscular control, differentiated approach according to type of instability, scientific rationale for kinetic chain exercises
  • Non-angular mobilisation techniques, mobilisation with motion to the shoulder joint with posterior shoulder stiffness. Principles of mobilisation techniques in the Frozen Shoulder
  • Clinical reasoning algorithm, selection of specific exercises for muscle imbalance and progression, scientific rationale for exercise selection, soft tissue techniques for small pectoralis muscle
